Beaches and Watersports

Brenton-on-Sea – One of the most beautiful stretches of beach along the coastline of Southern Africa. Walk along the beach from Brenton to Buffalo Bay. 4.5 kms in one direction or 9 kms return – takes approx 3 hours. Have a drink and/or snack at Brenton Blu on the return. A walk good for the soul!

Buffalo Bay – Great beach for surfing and swimming and is very busy in high season, i.e. December / January when the South African schools are on their long summer break.

Tony Cook Surfing – Surf lessons for complete beginners. Join in for a day at the beach and learn to surf. All equipment is supplied (board and wetsuit), transfers to the beach, a guide, and light refreshments afterwards

Ocean Odyssey – Ocean Odyssey offers unforgettable marine adventures. The close encounter, boat-based whale watching tours and marine eco-tours are perfect activities to add to any itinerary in Knysna. Whale watching season is June – November.

Stand up Paddling (SUP) – SUP is a refreshing, easy, and exciting way to get in shape. Proper paddling technique at higher intensities, using the right equipment, and having your instructor next to you is a superb way to strengthen your core, have a great workout, and have fun while you do it!

Scuba Diving – Garden Route Divers based in Knysna offer a wide range of diving spots and reefs from the lagoon to Buffels Bay. Knysna boasts fantastic dive sites and a good diving infrastructure.
