Blackwaters River Lodge is a magical discovered treasure, tucked away in a beautiful valley on the banks of the Goukamma River.  Set on several hectares of pristine gardens surrounded by indigenous forest that offers peace, quiet and relaxation.  We are conveniently situated just off the N2, between Knysna and Sedgefield opposite the Buffalo Bay turn off.  Only 10 minutes from Knysna and 15 minutes from the friendly Buffalo Bay beach.

The lodge is a SA Tourism Grading Council 4 – star guesthouse and AA Travel Guides Superior Guest House endorsed with 18 beautifully decorated rooms, all with a touch of nature.  5 Luxury Riverview rooms look down on the valley and over the Goukamma River.  5 Luxury Forestview rooms look out into pristine forests and the pool area. 7 Gardenview rooms face onto the golf course and well maintained gardens.  There is also a cosy lounge with a ladies bar, plasma screen satellite television and log fires to warm up in the winter months.

The golf course is a very challenging 9-hole par 3 short course, great for improving your short game or just having some family fun.  There are plenty of other activities for the energetic such as canoe, or stand-up paddling down the gently flowing tidal river, hiking down to the beach or a 5km forest walk or cycle, grass volley ball court, croquet or swing ball.  Relax around our swimming pool which overlooks the river and enjoy over 100 species of birdlife around the lodge.  Our latest addition is Forest Wellness & Beauty where guests can book for a pampering treatment surrounded by nature.

Day visitors and guests can experience our intimate on-site Earth & Fire Restaurant. What was originally the tractor shed is now a cosy indoor dining area and outside deck overlooking the golf course. We will treat you to handmade breads baked in our wood-fired oven and other tasty meals. Open for breakfasts from 9am, bookings essential. In-house guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast in the restaurant.
